Stem cell treatment

US researchers are now trying to find a way to use stem cells for patients with paralysis or brain injury, for patients with type 1 diabetes, those with spinal cord injury, heart disease, people who have a heart attack or disorder neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis. Many of the studies have been carried out on animals, and the results are in an early stage. It is important to note that the treatment with stem cells is not done with the patient’s own stem cells, because this is how the premises of the disease return are created. However, there were exceptions, proof stands a case from 2007, published in the journal Pediatric, of a child who was ill with leukemia and who was transplanted his own stem cells harvested at birth, following that 5 years after the intervention, the child to be completely healthy. Instead, it is indicated that the stem cell donors are the patient’s brother or sister. But in only 25% of cases it is shown that the brother is compatible with the patient, and 7 out of 10 patients must seek a donor outside the family.

Prolonged inactivity of limbs, may result in severe spasticity leading to permanent deformities. These may eventually need surgical correction. These symptoms may arise especially at the joints resulting in bent wrist, closed fist, flexed elbow. These may or may not straighten when forcefully tried. Poor feeding could result in malnourishment, which leads to a poor immunity, and low body weight. Poor neck control leads to swallowing difficulties in children with cerebral palsy. Often, the food taken orally may enter the larynx and trachea(windpipe), instead of the pharynx and oesophagus(food pipe). This could also be a common cause of recurrent pneumonia and other respiratory infections in cerebral palsy kids. Such cases of cerebral palsy could need eventual ventilatory support. Speech therapy also tackles problems that affect a child’s ability to eat. Many children with CP struggle to maintain a healthy weight because it’s hard to chew or swallow food. Oral motor exercises can improve the ability to chew and swallow food effectively. Speech therapists also work with other therapists. For example, a speech therapist and an occupational therapist can help children with drooling problems due to low muscle tone in the face and mouth. There are multiple surgical treatments that can help correct movement problems in children with cerebral palsy. However, parents should keep in mind that surgery isn’t right for every child with cerebral palsy. Surgery is most commonly prescribed for those with spastic cerebral palsy because their increased muscle tone can be reduced to relieve restricted movement. For example, a child who walks on their toes due to high muscle tone in their legs can have those muscles or tendons lengthened, allowing for more normal walking.

NeuroGen’s unwavering distinctiveness lies in its ability to combine seamlessly, the newest developments (stem cells) with conventional, tried and tested rehabilitation techniques. The amalgamation of the new and the old in the form of synergistic teamwork, all under one roof, enables our patients to hope, in an otherwise despondent condition, for the possibility of a better quality of life. A few tricks to help your child with autism: Make time for fun. A child coping with ASD is still a child. For both children with ASD and their parents, there needs to be more to life than therapy. Schedule playtime when your child is most alert and awake. Figure out ways to have fun together by thinking about the things that make your child smile, laugh, and come out of her/his shell. Your child is likely to enjoy these activities most if they don’t seem therapeutic or educational. There are tremendous benefits that result from your enjoyment of your child’s company and from your child’s enjoyment of spending unpressured time with you. Play is an essential part of learning for all children and shouldn’t feel like work.

Look for the best! Don’t define your child according to his problem – they grow up going through a cascade of problems, challenges that you can tackle together, carefully and deliberately. Do not make a goal of “normality”. People with autism can have extraordinary creativity and intuition, and your goal should be to encourage your child to enjoy his or her strengths and to strengthen the vulnerable. Awareness of what you can control and what you cannot control: The set of genes we are born with is the one we will have all our lives, but it does not mean that our future is precise. The power of genes is shaped by the environment in which we live. Therefore, your goal should be to create a supportive environment – for you and your child. Source: https://www.neurogenbsi.com
